Final Response

This year in English wasn't the same as other English classes but I prefer this way because It's easier for me to learn and it's not that boring. Although it was difficult for me to adjust to this way of learning, I would much rather choose this English class then any other I have had in the past. I'd rather have this class because the atmosphere is a lot less tense and more lively.

Self-Regulation: I am always on time and I come to every class unless I am sick. When I am not here I always catch up on missed work and complete it on time. I am on my iPod most of the time in class but I get my work done. I am not tempted to look at my iPod, but when i need to listen i do. Something I should improve is writing formal response. Obstacles I encounter are writing theses, but I try my best to do it. Even though it may not be the best thesis. I have completed all assignments. I deserve 30/33 because I have completed all assignments, kept my ipod temptations under control, and I come to every class.

Quality of Communication Skills: I can identify poetic devices and I can give examples of poetic devices. At times i may forget or mix them up. I can recognize the difference between informal and formal responses. My informal writing is great however my formal writing needs progress. Regardless of my bd formal responses I get help from my good buddies Jasluv and Jagdeep. I have trouble making connections because I am close minded. Although connections with media and other people is for me and I don't know why.  My use of words in writing is not that good, but I am working on applying better suitable and bigger words. I deserve 28/33 in communication skills.

Contribution to the Learning Environment: I have never gone back to fix my posts after somebody has given feedback, I know I should. Either I forget or I am too lazy to change it. My comments have decreased ever since the mid term. When I do comment I try to make it meaningful. I do not offer a lot of help in technology because I am not great with technology. However when my peers need help in proof reading or when they are stuck I help them out and give my ideas. I have completed all assignments on time and with effort. I read on my own for personal pleasure sometimes. The book I have started to read is “The House of Hades” By Rick Riordan. I think I deserve 29/33.

PLO'S
Before reading and viewing, select, adapt, and apply a range of strategies to anticipate content and construct meaning, including accessing prior knowledge, including knowledge of genre, form, and context.-I demonstrated this by examining the title of poems and stories before i start reading them

Interact and collaborate in pairs and groups-I have proved this by talking to group and discussing ideas and thoughts.

Examining and comparing ideas and elements among texts- I did this when we would read "Romeo & Juliet". I would compare and make connections with text, while i read along.

This english class by far was my favorite due to my friends, the technology, and the experience in general. I believe i deserve 87/100.

The Use of Pressure

Argumentative Essay

Everybody has been affected by pressure one way or another. Some people see pressure as a positive element, while others see it as their weakness. The only way to conquer pressure is to use it as your fuel and to transform it into motivation. But the thing that people fear the most about pressure is that it might exceed their limitations. However if you can not handle pressure it will be your worst enemy. Despite the fact that pressure can be useful, the negative aspects of pressure can definitely dominate the positive.

Society assumes that pressure is the "bad guy" because they do not  know how to change strain into their gain. Pressure is a dangerous object, it will make your life hard and very stressful. But without pressure you would not be very spontaneous, however with alot of pressure it could be harmful. Sometimes when the pressure is just too high some players cannot handle it and they choke, causing them to be a laughing stock or creating a slump in their career. Pressure should be balanced and equal, not too much and not too little. Not only is there bad pressure there is also good pressure.

The best way to represent pressure is this quote,"Pressure can make a diamond". That is a prime example because it can turn something bad and ugly looking (failure), into something beautiful looking (success). The best way to turn pressure into your strength is to transform it into motivation. A perfect representation is Michael Jordan .He has been trusted to take the game winning shots many times. The best way he focused while he was in that much pressure was to convert this pressure into his desire for winning the game. Although there are many examples of good pressure here is another one.

In addition another way people handle pressure is to work faster. "Nobody works better under pressure. They just work faster". This quote is a top example because whenever sport players are down to their last minutes and they are losing. They try to speed things up due to the pressure that they have, because the pressure is so high that they play better in high pressure situations. This situation also occurs with students writing tests and essays. Students work faster in pressure situations because if they don't have enough time they wont pass, creating this solution to work faster.

Pressure, one of the best ways on Earth to make your try something. Pressure is scary, helpful, and most importantly it is unique force to make you do things that you wouldn't normally do. Although it is hard to conquer pressure, once you do it will be your best friend and a perfect helper in tough situations. Society assumes pressure is bad, but they haven't noticed that without pressure, they would not of had good memories. The outcome is that pressure is indeed a good thing not bad.
