There are many famous soliloquies in Romeo and Juliet, but the one i have chose is "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright. It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night. Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear, beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows as yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand, and, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." This soliloquy is found in Act 1 Scene 5.
I think this speech means " Her beauty is brighter than the lights. She is more dazzling than the moon. Like a shiny jewel, she is too rich for us and too precious to the Earth. Shes like a dove compared to the other crows. Which means that she is a beautiful white dove amongst ugly black crowes Just touching her will make my dirt hand clean. Was I ever in love? I have never seen true beauty till this night.
That speech is so significant to the plot because it shows how much Romeo loves Juliet and why he likes her. For instance he says"O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright." Which means that she is brighter than the lights. Another example of why this speech is significant to the plot is ,because it starts off the relationship between the two characters. This speech is also significant because it starts off the Relationship story of two lovers.
I like the speech because i found it pretty easy to write about. I also like it because it makes you believe that love at first sight exists. But personally I think love at first sight doesn't exist because its not love your feeling its just lust.
